It is hard to believe that we, as a society, have turned almost a blind eye to some of the issues that are occurring right in front of our eyes. On the plus side, all of the articles are well-written, well-researched, and interesting except perhaps the very last: Saskia Sassen's contribution is bogged down in abstraction and big words, and does very little to illuminate the ideas explored by other contributors who used concrete examples.
